Energy Efficiency

Did you know that half of your energy bill could be used by your heating or cooling system?

What can we do about that for you?

Yearly Tune-up: Getting your heating (or cooling) system cleaned and properly tuned up can help to reduce annual energy costs. This includes:

o   Cleaning the Heat Exchanger: Soot, dirt and debris can cause your heat exchanger to not pass heat properly, Requiring your system to run longer in order to provide the heat you want.

o   Burner Tune-Up: By using the proper gauges and analyzers, our technicians will set your burner (Oil, Natural Gas or Propane) to run at optimum efficiency helping to reduce energy waste.

o   Check Electrical Connections: A loose wire can cause a system failure and can even reduce the life expectancy of your system.

o   Check System Controls: These controls communicate with your thermostat(s) and tell the system when to turn on, how to run and when to shut off. These need to be checked every year to be sure the system will run when you need it too and properly shut down when required.

o   Replace Air Filters: In a forced air system, air flow is based on the supply and return. Having a dirty or clogged air filter can restrict the flow of air and greatly reduce your system efficiency.

o   Inspect the Flue Pipe / Venting: Rusted or damaged venting can cause a litany of problems form the system not running to dumping harmful exhaust in your home. Combustion air ducts (if you have them) need to be free and clear in order to provide the required air for proper and efficient burner operation.

System Upgrade or Replacement: Waiting for your system to fail or break-down is not the only reason to replace your system(s). Units that are over 10 years old could be running at a much lower efficiency compared to today’s systems. The benefits of a system replacement include:

o   Reduced Fuel Usage: The higher energy costs go… the more savings you incur with a more fuel efficient system.

o   Reduced Maintenance Costs: We do our very best to spot issues before they happen but, like anything else, parts wear out over time and systems can fail at the most inopportune times. A new system will give you new parts.

o   Warranty: If the house you live in has the original system that came with it… odds are, you don’t have a warranty. Most warranties are only valid to the original homeowner at the time the system was installed. It also could be that your systems warranty has expired.

New system = New warranty = Piece of Mind
